This 32-acre, 404-room resort 2 kilometers (1 mile) south of Marina Vallarta features three family pool complexes and 402 meters (440 yards) of beach.

Some rooms at this Puerto Vallarta resort are available in the All-Inclusive Plan, which includes meals, room service, and discounts for massage.

What to expect: Distinguished by yellow domes at the entrance, the NH Krystal Vallarta resort resembles a Mexican colonial village with streets, wrought-iron street lamps, brick paths, and fountains. Mature gardens and tall palm trees grace the quiet grounds. Complimentary golf-cart shuttles transport guests around the 32-acre property. Families and couples find plenty of vacation space here.

Amenity highlights: A main pool complex features interlocking swimming areas and includes a children’s pool, two swim-up bars, shallow-water tile lounges, and an activities area. A second complex includes a pool with a children’s section, a toddlers’ pool, and a water slide. Flanked by lodging buildings, a third complex features a rectangular pool and a children’s pool. The resort’s beach extends 402 meters (440 yards) and includes thatched-roof palapas.

Insider tip: Located on the street at the resort’s front, Christine, one of Puerto Vallarta’s most popular discos, opens late at night and doesn’t close until 6 AM.
